Italian cheese is one of the most delicious cheeses in the world. So, we decided to create something easy and very quick. When you are short on time and you have guests next to your door you definitely need to serve something quick and delicious. Boards and platters are always a perfect way to meet your friends and family. Usually, you can add sausage, dry fruits, sun-dried tomatoes, nuts, jams, and many other ingredients that you really like. Speaking of cheese, Grano Padano is the most delicious choice, but you can also choose Parmigiano Reggiano. They both work great with prosciutto. If you have never tried prosciutto, it is dry-cured ham, which you don’t need to cook. You can eat it like it is.
It depends but the shortest time is about two months. In Portugal, the name of this type of meat is a little different, it is Presunto and is cured for 6-18 months. The most famous Presunto are from Chaves, it is the town in the north of Portugal, and another one is from the Alentejo region, where they grow black pigs. Presunto has different tastes, so you need to try them separately, but it is very delicious.
You can serve fig jam with crackers, soft cheese, and melon slices.
In this recipe, we used also sausage, crackers, fresh cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil. Basil goes really well with tomatoes and cheese. You can buy basil in your local farm market. If you are not a fan of basil, you can skip it.
This Grana Padano Presunto Platter is a beautiful version of what many call the most tasteful platter to celebrate the end of the working week. We also recommend a glass of red wine to this platter or even too! 😉
