This Watercress Tomato Salad recipe is a fresh summer meal that can be served as an impressive appetizer or light lunch. The fresh combination of pink tomato, peppery watercress, and creamy burrata cheese celebrates summer flavor. A handful of ingredients will take you on a vacation of flavors in 10 minutes!
Ready? – Let’s get cooking!
Personally, I love to have some fresh salads every day. When the temperature is very high and you need something easy and super quick – this watercress salad is my perfect summer lunch.
I really enjoy adding a few pieces of prosciutto (or presunto) to this salad. This prosciutto works well with soft and creamy burrata and peppery watercress.
What kind of dressing do I need?
You don’t need any specific spices and dressing. Balsamic vinegar and olive oil help to perfectly season the salad.
How many servings in the watercress tomato salad?
You can serve this salad up to 4 people as an appetizer or starter.
What can you substitute for this watercress salad?
You can substitute olive oil with avocado oil. Also, balsamic vinegar can be substituted with white wine vinegar. I wouldn’t recommend using lemon juice, as it may be an aggressive taste with sweet pink tomato and soft burrata cheese.
And if you love turkey – here is a very delicious Honey Baked Turkey Breast recipe. They pair so well together.
What kind of ingredients to use?
To create this summer mouthwatering Watercress Tomato Burrata Salad, you will need the following ingredients:
Fresh Watercress: Choose the freshest green bunch of watercress.
Note: In case you don’t like watercress, you can substitute it with arugula. For milder and sweeter versions, chopped romaine lettuce can be used.
Tomato: I like to add pink tomato, as it has a very delicious sweet taste that goes well with peppery watercress.
Burrata Cheese: Burrata cheese is soft and creamy but if you don’t have burrata cheese, you can substitute it with mozzarella cheese. It will be delicious, too. 😉
Prosciutto or Presunto: I like to add a few pieces of cured meat with a savory taste that accompanies sweet tomatoes and soft cheese.
Olive Oil – extra virgin as always, you can use another type of oil that you like.
Balsamic Vinegar: I like to drizzle it over the salad which gives tangy flavors.
Salt and Pepper
The Watercress Tomato Salad is a pure summer meal. By combining some fresh ingredients, you can create a dish that will give you a light and refreshing salad.
I recommend serving this salad straight away and adding balsamic vinegar right before serving. So, if you plan to make any meat, gather your salad in the last minutes. It is very simple and quick.
You can also tear apart burrata cheese if you want so.
Time to make this delicious Watercress tomato Burrata Salad and enjoy it with a glass of dry or semi-dry white wine!
